I am finally launching a project I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time now: a celebration of the one and only Carmen McRae. Carmen has been such a strong influence on me over the years. It is extremely exciting for me to share my love of her with all of you by doing a series of upcoming shows at three wonderful venues.
The first one will be Saturday night, September 19 at the beautiful Faust Harrison Piano Showroom in Sherman Oaks. I have chosen a wide range of her iconic songs that have touched me deeply.
This concert will be followed on Friday, October 9 by a night at the fabulous new jazz club in Santa Barbara The Grand on State where we will continue to explore Carmen’s extraordinary body of work.
Finally, on Tuesday, October 27 I will be at the world famous Baked Potato in Studio City where I will perform the material from her legendary “Carmen Sings Monk” album.
